Our commitments
Audio stays on your Mac
Meeting audio is captured and processed entirely on-device using Apple's Speech framework and local AI models. Raw audio files are never uploaded to any server.
No third-party audio access
AssemblyAI and other cloud providers never receive your audio. When cloud transcription is used (opt-in), audio is streamed directly and never stored by the provider.
Encrypted cloud sync
When you enable cloud features, only text summaries are synced — never audio. All synced data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
Open source verification
Noted's core is open source. Every privacy claim on this page can be verified by inspecting the codebase on GitHub. We have nothing to hide.
No data selling
We will never sell, share, or license your meeting data to any third party. Your data is used only to provide the Noted service to you.
Right to deletion
Delete your account and all cloud data is permanently removed within 48 hours. Local data is always under your control — delete it anytime from the app.

1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. Payment information is processed directly by Stripe and never touches our servers.
Meeting data: Noted processes meeting audio locally on your device. If you enable cloud sync, text-only summaries (never audio) are encrypted and stored on our servers.
Usage analytics: We collect anonymous usage analytics (page views, feature usage counts) via PostHog. These contain no meeting content. You can opt out in the app settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Noted service (transcription, summaries, search)
- Process payments for Pro and Team subscriptions
- Send important service updates (never marketing without consent)
- Improve the product based on anonymous usage patterns
3. Data Storage and Security
Local data is stored on your Mac in the app's sandboxed container. Cloud data is stored on encrypted servers in the United States (AWS us-east-1). All data in transit uses TLS 1.3. All data at rest uses AES-256 encryption.
4. Third-Party Services
Noted uses the following third-party services:
- Stripe — payment processing
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics
- Cloudflare — website hosting and CDN
When using BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys), your API keys are stored locally on your Mac and never transmitted to our servers.
5. Data Retention
Local data is retained until you delete it. Cloud data is retained while your account is active and for 30 days after cancellation. Account deletion removes all cloud data within 48 hours.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data at any time
- Export your data in standard formats (Markdown, JSON)
- Delete your account and all associated cloud data
- Opt out of analytics tracking
